Mounting Trash Frustrates Some In South Fulton

UNION CITY, Ga. — Residents of a South Fulton County subdivision said their trash collection company has abandoned them, and the garbage is piling up outside their homes.

"It's a health hazard. I'm surprised dogs and cats haven't been tearing it up," said homeowner David Davenport.

Davenport told Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Regan that his trash collection company, Silver Crown Trash, LLC, has not shown up for three weeks.

Regan drove around the Wexford subdivision off Stone Wall Tell Road in South Fulton County and spotted trash piled curbside at numerous houses.

"We don't know what's going on; no one answers the phone. It's very frustrating," said homeowner Jeremiah Rutledge. Rutledge said he called the trash pickup company but the number was disconnected.

Regan located the company's office for Silver Crown Trash in Fayetteville. He knocked on the door, but it was locked and no one was inside.

A noticed warned people not to leave their trash outside the office. Some wrote a message on the notice telling the company to pickup the garbage.

Disgusted homeowners worry the company may be out of business and fear the money they pay for trash pickup will be lost.

"It's really been a burden," said Davenport.
