Mother speaks out after finding daughter's body inside home

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — The mother of a high school student who was shot to death in her College Park home says she discovered the front door unlocked when she arrived home Tuesday evening with one of her sons.

"My son and I came home from his basketball game, to find her covered in blood. I knew at that point that my baby was gone," said Katara Hamm.

Hamm told Channel 2's Tom Regan she has no idea who would want to kill her 17-year-old daughter, Randisha Love. She said her daughter was bright, sang in the church choir and helped younger students struggling with math.

"She was such as beautiful girl, with such a beautiful smile. She was a math tutor. Anybody who had any questions about anything, she would help anybody," said Hamm.

The teen was looking forward to graduation in May and her high school prom.

"She just showed me the dress she wanted to wear. We were going to make it for her. I'm not going to be able to see her in her prom dress. They took that away from me," Hamm said.

The mother said her daughter planned to join the Air Force after graduation, and hopefully earn money to help send her three brothers to college. A vigil was held to honor Love Thursday night.

The pastor of Greater New Hope Baptist Church spent Friday helping the family make funeral arrangements.

"We have an innocent young lady and virtuous young lady, gone by senseless violence," said the Rev. Darryl Edwards.

Both the pastor and the father of the murdered teen urged the shooter to surrender, and asked the public for help in solving the crime.

"Please call Crime Stoppers. We need closure as parents and as a family. We really need your help right now," said Randy Love.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family.
