Man Tasered After Trashing Motel Room

ROSWELL, Ga.,None — A man staying at a north Fulton County motel was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after a two-hour standoff with police.

Police said the man, identified as Jeremy Lepper, 34, was dealing with personal issues and was so angry he shot up his room and then he trashed it. At one point, the man fired at least five shots, police said.

The incident happened at the Studio 6 Extended Stay on Old Dogwood Road in Roswell.

Officials said the standoff came to an end when Lepper broke the window inside the room, began throwing furniture out of the window, and started yelling at police. The man was then subdued with a Taser by police.

Police said the suspect also turned on the water in his room and flooded the room below his.

"I heard five or six pops, (it) sounded like gunshots in the room," said resident Cyrus Sheets.

Lt. James McGee, of the Roswell Police Department, said they had to use force to end the standoff.

"We made physical contact with him. I understand that he was Tased," said McGee.

Police said Lepper was going through some hard times; which may have set him off.

"He was going through some family problems and he had some mental problems and he was on medication also," said McGee.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital. He had cuts from breaking out the window.

No one else was hurt.
