Man Charged In Chase, Brass Knuckle Attack

ATHENS, Ga. — A Barrow County man was arrested after police said he attacked a man and led officers on a chase in the victim's stolen car.

The incident began at a Hampton Inn in Athens on Friday, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

Police said Jacob Orr, of Statham, beat Snelville resident Joseph Milam with a pair of brass knuckles. They said he fled the scene in Milam's stolen car and got in a car accident in the hotel parking lot.

Orr was gone when police arrived, but they said another unit spotted him driving down West Broad Street.

When officers tried to stop Orr on Pulaski Street, they said he sped up and turned into oncoming traffic on Hull Street, hitting another vehicle.

Orr eventually lost control down the road and crashed into the Council on Aging Building, police said.

Orr was transported to an area hospital for treatment and then charged with aggravated assault, battery, theft, criminal damage and various traffic offenses.
