ATLANTA — WSB-TV Channel 2 presents “Georgia’s Opioid Crisis,” an hour-long special hosted by Channel 2 anchors Fred Blankenship and Karyn Greer, airing Sunday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
“As Georgia continues confronting this crisis, WSB-TV remains committed to covering the issue with depth, compassion and a focus on the information Georgians need to protect themselves, their families and their communities,” said WSB-TV President Marian Pittman.

“The opioid epidemic is personal for too many Georgia families,” said Blankenship. “This special shares real stories and connects viewers with resources that can help save lives.”
The broadcast features a powerful interview with Scott Cochran, the former UGA and Alabama coach and current head coach at the University of West Alabama, as he discusses his near-deadly overdose and recovery.
Cochran opens up about his struggle with addiction and the journey that followed.
“Behind every number is a family, a friend and a community changed by addiction. Viewers will hear from East Cobb friends who have lost more than 30 people and see how Georgians are working to support recovery, prevention and hope,” said Greer.
The show is done in partnership with The Georgia Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust and The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
“Georgia’s Opioid Crisis” can also be seen wherever you stream WSB-TV at 7 p.m. Sunday.
