ATLANTA — Police say a driver crashed into a car, crushing a woman's legs and putting an entire dinner crowd in danger.
A woman told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes that a drunk driver in a Maserati came tearing down the road toward her small car.
The crash happened in Buckhead on Pharr Road near North Fulton Drive and ended in the patio of a restaurant.
"He didn't brake, you know? He didn't even try to stop," said India Coppers.
Cooper was the passenger in a Toyota Corolla that was hit by the Maserati.
Both of Cooper's legs were smashed in the wreck.
"As were passing Instanblue, he just came out of nowhere doing like 80 mph, like, flying down the street," Copper said.
Jeremy Odom was driving the white Maserati that hit Cooper and her cousin, according to police.
Police said he was drunk and he was speeding.
"He pushed our car so hard that we went up on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant and actually hit one of the workers, she broke two ribs, too," Cooper said.
Thomas McCracken was walking his dog that Friday around 9 p.m.
He told Fernandes he saw and heard the Maserati take off from the traffic light.
"Just took off about as fast as he could go, literally, I mean he must have had the pedal to the floor because it sounded like a rocket just went off," McCracken said.
Christian Zac tried to help Cooper before paramedics arrived.
"Her door was all messed up so I pried it open with my leg and just pushed it open," Zac said.
But she was still stuck.
Fernandes spoke to a city official, who said that the lanes weren't clearly marked on Pharr Road until after the wreck.
"There weren't solid lines all the way up and down, that wasn't done until a week after the accident," McCracken said.
