UNION CITY, Ga. — Fairburn police identified the man as 43-year-old Alan Richardson. He is wanted on charges of driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, fleeing/attempting to elude and other minor traffic offenses.
Police said the incident began late Thursday night when Richardson took off from Fairburn police officers during a traffic stop on Highway 29.
Police said officers lost sight of the Dodge Charger when the driver shut off his headlights and got up to 80 MPH.
Police said the driver's getaway attempt ended a half mile later when Richardson crashed twice – first into an SUV at Shannon Way and Highway 138 in Union City, and then into a MARTA bus stop.
"The two collided and the suspect's vehicle then collided with a MARTA bus stop. The MARTA bus stop was occupied by several individuals, most notably a 31-year-old female was struck directly by the vehicle," Anthony Bazydlo of the Fairburn Police Department said.
Police said Richardson could not open the doors so he climbed out the sunroof and ran. Two passengers inside the car stayed at the scene and were not charged.
