DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Witnesses couldn’t hold back tears in court Friday as they described the scene of a fatal crash in Douglas County.
A 23-year-old Alabama man is on trial accused of intentionally ramming and then running over a Douglas County woman in front of her daughter and 4-year-old grandson.
Dewey Green, 23, is facing charges of aggravated assault, malice murder and felony murder in the death of Janice Pitts, 53.
Pitts' daughter, Iesha Davis, gave an emotional testimony in Douglas County Superior Court Thursday.
Friday several witnesses took the stand.
"I seen the woman pinned up between both cars," Cynthia Horsely said.
Horsley fought back tears as she recounted the scene that played out in front of her.
Police and witnesses say Green deliberately rammed the rear of Pitts' Lincoln Navigator. When she got out to investigate, police say Green drove and crushed the grandmother between his truck and her.
Horsley described what she saw next.
“The truck backs up just a little enough to get around the truck and runs the woman over,” Horsely said.
In the choas, Horsely said she rushed to comfort Pitts' hysterical daughter Iesha, and her young son, who where passengers in the SUV.
“When I went to the car, and I opened the door, the child was looking down at his grandmother out the window,” Horsely said.
