BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — A suspect failed to escape police despite swinging from trees and leaping to a roof.

A Channel 2 Action News photographer captured exclusive video of the man running from Brookhaven police on Thursday afternoon.

The suspect, identified as Brandon Hughes, dangled from a tree as an officer pleaded with him to come down.

Hughes then made a painful jump, slamming into the roof of a nearby Food Mart with a thud.

“Please don’t go up. You’re going to fall and hurt yourself,” the officer said.

The video shows police quickly surrounding the man on top of the building and making an arrest. Hughes is calmly arrested with his arms crossed.

Police say Hughes ran from a Holiday Inn on Chamblee Dunwoody Road where they were investigating reports of drug activity.

Investigators said Hughes has an outstanding warrant in Alabama for drug charges.

He maintained his innocence when questioned by Channel 2 Action News after his arrest.
