Those who lost their lives were high school star football player 18-year-old Philstavious ‘Phil’ Dowdell, senior athlete 17-year-old Shaunkivia Smith, football, track athlete, and musician 19-year-old Marsiah Collins and 23-year-old Corbin Holston.

32 others are injured at the party.

ABC News is reporting 163 Mass shootings in America this year. That’s more than the number of days we have currently seen in 2023 thus far.

The FBI said a ‘mass shooting’ is any incident in which at least three people are murdered with a gun in a single incident.

Behavioral Health Professional Terrene Jackson said the latest string of mass shootings is really taking a toll on people mentally.

“It’s really coming to a place where people are afraid to even walk outside their doors,” said Jackson.

Jackson said many are experiencing paranoia, while others are becoming immune to the violence.

“When you see it happening, day after day, week after week, month after month, you kind of become numb to it,” said Jackson.

But Jackson said there is a balance.

“The solution that I can give today is just to wake up each day and just live life to the fullest,” said Jackson.

According to Alabama Law Authorities, they’re still investigating and looking for the shooter.
