HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A UPS worker is off the job after the company says he was stealing packages with prescriptions.

Army veteran Weldon Seay says he got concerned when his Department of Veterans Affairs prescription for hydrocodone did not show up.

Seay hadn't run out of his supply of hydrocodone just yet, so instead of calling police, he drove to the UPS facility in Hall County and spoke to a customer service representative.

"And she said, 'Well, we're doing our own investigation here,'" Seay said.

Seay then contacted the VA about the investigation.

"Then VA told me, you know, that I should probably go ahead and try to get another prescription and contact the police and file a police report," said Seay.

Seay received his prescription about two weeks late.

A UPS spokesperson emailed Channel 2 Action News a statement saying in part…"The individual was terminated. UPS does not tolerate dishonesty and considers the integrity of its people to be paramount."

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
