CLEVELAND, Ga. — On Sunday afternoon, Cleveland Police Officers received a 911 call about an unresponsive person at a home.

Once they entered the home, officers found a deceased male confirmed to be a student at Truett McConnell University.
The body was transported by the White County Coroner’s Office to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for medical examination.
Out of respect for the deceased’s family, the university has not released the identity of the individual or any additional details.
The school confirmed they are working with authorities and will share additional information as it becomes available.

“Because this is an active investigation, we ask that everyone refrain from speculation and from sharing unverified information, out of respect for the family and those who are grieving,” Truett McConnell University shared in a statement.
Counseling, pastoral care and other support for students, faculty and staff will be available through the university for those affected by the loss.
At this time, no foul play is suspected and the case remains under investigation.
