ATLANTA — Delta Air Lines had to deactivate its Wi-Fi on a flight Monday after finding an unauthorized network.
The incident happened during Delta Flight 591 from Las Vegas to Atlanta.
The cabin crew deactivated the flight’s Wi-Fi for about 30 minutes.
No emergency was declared with air traffic control since there was no threat to the 199 passengers or six crew members on the Boeing 757.

Delta issued a statement on the incident:
“Safety of flight was never in question and no aircraft operating systems were affected. We are fully investigating to gather a complete set of facts, which will take time.
“We will partner with federal law enforcement and aviation regulators to ensure the incident is thoroughly investigated. We thank our crew for their professionalism and our customers for their understanding.”
The Federal Aviation Administration told Channel 2 that it was aware of the report. FAA also stated that a breach of onboard Wi-Fi system would not affect an airplane’s critical flight-safety systems.
Delta said there was a large cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas last weekend.
