The UGA Derbies Pep Band will not be making the trip to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
The University of Georgia Redcoat Band made the announcement in a statement on social media, saying the move was made “out of an abundance of caution.”
The post said, “The decision follows extensive communication and collaboration over several days with UGA Athletics, UGA Administration and emergency personnel, and our travel partners. We appreciate their partnership in prioritizing the safety of our students and staff.
“We’ll still be cheering just as loudly from Athens! Go Dawgs!”
The move comes amid the weather chaos generated by Hurricane Isaias, which made landfall in the Florida Panhandle Friday night.
Four deaths have been blamed on the storm so far.
Though it’s no longer a hurricane, it continues to make for treacherous conditions and prompted changes to tailgating and other aspects of the game.
For instance, President Donald Trump canceled plans to attend the game as Hurricane Isaias approached.
