ATLANTA — Two more teachers have decided to plead guilty in the Atlanta Public Schools cheating case.
Shayla Smith, a former teacher at Dobbs Elementary, and Sheila Evans, a former teacher at Benteen Elementary, are expecected to formally enter their plea Monday afternoon.
The agreements bring the total of teacher guilty pleas to four.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter set a Jan. 6 deadline for defendants to reach a deal with prosecutors.
The first guilty plea in the case came in November when Lisa Terry, who taught at Deerwood Academy, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor obstruction charges. She
Last week, former Humphries Elementary School teacher Ingrid Abella-Sly reached the same deal.
Each were sentenced to 12 months of probation, 250 hours of community service and must pay $500 in restitution.
The guilty pleas leave 30 defendants still awaiting trial, including former superintendent Beverly Hall.
