Summers was five months pregnant when her husband, 27-year-old Taurean Summers, was killed in a plane crash. He was a paramedic on board an air ambulance carrying a cancer patient to a different hospital. The plane crashed in Las Cruses, New Mexico in August 2014. Everyone on board was killed.
Just months before the crash, photographer Laura Gordillo took photos of the couple to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
According to the post, August 27 marked one year since Taurean's passing. Since then, Stephanie gave birth to their son and named him after his late father.
Stephanie wanted to commemorate the milestone, so she asked Gordillo to take photographs with baby Taurean in the same location that she and her husband took photos before he passed away.
"She and their adorable baby boy even wore the same color schemes she and Taurean wore for their session last year," Gordillo wrote on Facebook.
Gordillo edited a special image for Summers, placing a translucent image of dad Tarurean in a photo with his wife and baby.
"My heart broke to see what could have been but at the same time I was so happy to execute such a beautiful image for Stephanie and her son!" Gordillo wrote on Facebook.
Gordillo says Summers sobbed when she saw the image for herself.
"She said it hurt son much and she missed him so much and she knows he would have been so in love with his son!" wrote Gordillo. "I told her he is and will always be by your side, just like in this picture."
