Flash flood warnings, flood watch in effect

The risk for severe weather will be winding down as we go through the rest of the afternoon.

But there is still concerns about flooding across parts of north Georgia.

Severe Weather Team 2 tracked heavy rain and severe storms throughout the morning and afternoon on Saturday.

All tornado watches have expired as of 2 p.m. A radar confirmed tornado touchdown in far south Carroll County around 11 a.m.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says there is also a flood watch in effect. Nitz says 2-4 inches of rainfall are likely with isolated 5-6 inches possible in spots.

A flash flood warning is in effect for the following counties:

  • Bartow County and Rabun County until 3:30 p.m.
  • Cherokee County until 4:30 p.m.
  • Dawson, Lumpkin, and Pickens counties until 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
