ATLANTA, Ga. — Atlanta was at the center of a major moment for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. this weekend as the organization launched its new four-year international program with a citywide day of service.

The sorority, the first historically Black Greek-letter organization established for college-educated women, held its Champion Impact Moment as part of the official launch of its 2026–2030 International Program.
The theme is “Championing Service. Empowering Sisterhood. Transforming the World.”
Thousands of AKA members and volunteers gathered in Atlanta, turning a convention center into a hub for service and community engagement.
“It’s not a service project,” said Charletta Wilson Jacks, the sorority’s 32nd International President and CEO. “We’re going to champion service. We are going to empower our members to understand what sisterhood is about.”
The free community event offered health resources, school supplies, family activities and other services. AKA partnered with organizations including the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross and Morehouse School of Medicine.

Children also took part in the celebration, performing for attendees and receiving school supplies and monetary donations. Jacks said the organization also plans to support teachers who work with students.
For Jacks, the weekend marked a particularly meaningful milestone after decades of service to the organization.
“It’s very personal to me because I have been serving in this organization, boots on the ground, for 50 years,” Jacks said.
The weekend concluded Saturday night with a Supreme Celebration honoring Jacks as the organization’s 32nd International President and CEO.
The event, “HER STORY,” celebrated Jacks’ legacy, sisterhood and the organization’s continued focus on service.
