ATLANTA — Residents of a northwest Atlanta apartment complex are waking up to smashed car windows and a trail of broken glass.

Atlanta police were called to the Sterling Collier Hills apartments around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

One of the six victims said she just moved into the complex in April and the thief damaged her brand new car.

"I just got it and it's just so aggravating. They took my sunglasses and everything," Amy Zheng said.

Residents said they'll have to pay to fix the damage themselves.

"I mean, I can't really take it to the insurance, because my insurance only covers $500," one resident said.

Residents said they have never seen anything like this happen at the complex in the past.
