GRAYSON, Ga. — Police say a suspected drunken driver slammed into a car, killing a teenager and injuring the driver.
The crash temporarily shut down Graystone Parkway at Lakeview Road in Gwinnett County late Sunday night.
A friend of one of the victims told Channel 2's Darryn Moore that he heard the crash and tried to pull the teens out of the car.
"The second I saw the wreck happen, I went back inside and told my parents to call 911," Josh Kennedy said. "Me and another guy broke off the two back doors to try to get them."
Kennedy's father also tried to help.
"What I saw -- I hope no parent ever has to go through it. I mean, it's just traumatizing," Mike Kennedy said.
Police said the driver of a Pontiac Bonneville ran a stop sign and ran into the car with two 16-year-olds, Brittany Sailors and Lacey Gowens, inside.
"The driver of the other vehicle that struck the other vehicle has been arrested for DUI," Sgt. Rich Long of the Gwinnett County Police Department said.
Mutajah Paasewe, 23, was charged in the crash. He also had a 19-year-old passenger that was injured in the crash.
Friends of Sailors, who was killed in the crash, heard about what happened and showed up at the scene.
"She was a really good friend of mine and it upsets me, and I know there's a lot of other people upset about it, too," a friend said.
The three survivors are in the hospital in serious condition.
