Teen shot, killed in northwest Atlanta

ATLANTA — Police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a teenager overnight.

According to police, the shooting happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday on Spellman Street in northwest Atlanta.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 18-year-old Kyle Taylor, of Atlanta.

Investigators said Taylor was in the house and went outside to meet two men, and that’s when his sister heard a gunshot.

“She was in the house and ran outside and found her brother lying in the street,” Lt. Charles Hampton with the Atlanta Police Department said. “We’re being told there may have been some type of argument with two males before the gunfire.”

Taylor died from a gunshot wound in the head, police said.

“There are no words to explain how much his family is going to miss him. When somebody shot him, they didn’t think about other people’s losses, other people’s feelings,” the victim’s sister, Karlishia Taylor, said.

Neighbors said Kyle Taylor was well-liked and they don’t know why the shooting happened.

“He was one of the nicest guys in the neighborhood,” neighbor William Pollard said.

Police searched the area for clues and talked to people at a nearby store, looking for answers in the case.

“I hope they get to the bottom of it and find out who did it, because this is my brother. It just doesn’t seem real,” Karlishia Taylor said.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account for the victim and his child on the way.

“I just want to talk to him right now, but one thing you should know, he was sweet. He was kind. He was just trying to work hard and provide for the family,” Karlishia Taylor said.
