SMYRNA, Ga.,None — Authorities swarmed a Cobb County bank in search of an intruder early Wednesday.
Channel 2's Darryn Moore went to a Wells Fargo on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, where a major police operation was taking place. The bank's alarm was tripped just after 2 a.m.
At least two agencies, Cobb County and Smyrna police, surrounded the area after the bank alarm company notified them of someone inside the bank. After officers were unable to make contact with anyone, the SWAT team was dispatched and a search robot was sent in the bank.
After hours of searching, officers made an arrest. Around 5:40 a.m., authorities said they nabbed someone who tried to escape through a bank window.
"Apparently there was a suspect inside the bank. [He] ran out the back, came out through the back window, same way he went in, and he is in custody," Cobb County police spokesman Mike Bowman told Moore.
