Armed home intruder on the run after SWAT situation in Powder Springs

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. — Powder Springs police are searching for a wanted home intruder after a SWAT situation unfolded Friday morning.

The SWAT scene along Marietta Street and New Macland is now cleared, but police first responded around 3:30 a.m. Deputy Chief Louis Defense says police received a call from a homeowner who spotted an intruder with a gun on a Ring camera video.

We’re working to get the surveillance video, for Channel 2 Action News starting at 3:00 p.m.

Defense says an incident happened inside the home that prompted them to call Cobb County SWAT team out of an abundance of caution.

The intruder was gone by the time officers went inside the home. No one was hurt.

Police say they will be releasing the Ring camera video that shows the suspect as soon as possible.
