PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A suspect was shot during a chase that started in Alabama and ended in Georgia.
According to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started Monday morning in Cleburne County, Alabama where Donald Brandon Hamner, 25, is wanted in connection with several crimes.
The chase continued through Haralson County, Georgia, where the suspect was shot.
Police said Hamner burglarized a home in the Talapoosa area and stole another vehicle there, even though he was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Hamner drove the stolen truck toward troopers who reported hearing shots fired at them, police said. We're told a trooper returned fire.
The chase continued to Paulding County on Georgia 120. Troopers tried to catch him by putting stop sticks in the road, police said.
The chase finally ended at 121 Old White Oak Church Cemetery Road, where Hamner crashed.
Buck Lynch, who lives in the neighborhood, told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes he's never seen this many police cars here.
"Especially the unmarked cars," he said.
The suspect ran away but a K-9 finally helped police get him in handcuffs.
Lynch said it was a perfect spot to catch him.
"Once you get over the hill, it turns into gravel over there and they cleared all them trees. It’s a mess back there," Lynch said.
Hamner was taken into custody and authorities found a gunshot wound in his arm and a wound from a dog bite. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center for treatment and released to officer's custody.
GBI is investigating.
No officers were injured during the incident.
