SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Police have arrested a suspect nearly three years after a man was found shot to death in a car outside a bank.
South Fulton Police confirmed detectives took Mamadi Sylla in custody on Sept. 4 in the shooting death of Bryan Brown.

The investigation began on Feb. 10, 2023 when an officer working an off-duty job noticed a parked vehicle with its engine running in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot at 5060 Old Bill Cook Road.
When the officer walked up to the vehicle, he found Brown dead inside with a gunshot wound, according to police.
Brown’s family and friends told Channel 2 Action News they were looking for answers. His friend, Samuel Chatman, said at the time that Brown’s cell phone was the only thing missing from the car.
“The lights were still on first off, candles still burning, papers everywhere. That’s not him and you could tell, he was rushed or something,” Chatman said.

Police said detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division identified Sylla as a suspect after what the department described as an extensive investigation.
Sylla faces murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and gun possession and tampering with evidence charges, according to police.
“We hope this arrest provides some measure of closure to Mr. Brown’s family while reinforcing our commitment to holding those responsible for violent crimes accountable,” police said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Fulton County Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Sperry said the South Fulton murder task force started reviewing 26 unsolved killings in the city between June 3, 2021 and Oct. 16, 2025.
Since then, at least six murders have been solved with a total of eight suspects arrested.
