State to announce final State Ethics Commission settlements

ATLANTA — The state is ready to announce that it has settled the last three cases involving former employees of the State Ethics Commission.

The new settlements with Sherilyn Streicher, Elizabeth Murray-Obertein and John Hair will total $1,877,500. The state earlier agreed to pay former Ethics Commission Director Stacey Kalberman and her attorneys $1,115,000.  The disputes arose after the commission began investigating 2010 campaign spending by Governor Nathan Deal.  The governor was not named in any of the cases.

Kalberman, Streicher and Hair had filed suits against the Ethics Commission. Murray-Obertein had not.
