SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — The South Fulton Police Department has received a $22,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to help improve traffic safety and crash reporting.

The grant will fund mobile data units, or in-car computers, for patrol vehicles and support electronic reporting of traffic crashes.
The city says the technology will give officers secure, in-vehicle access to critical information and allow them to complete documentation from the field.
Electronic crash reporting is also expected to improve the timeliness and accuracy of crash data, which can help identify areas of concern and inform traffic safety efforts.

“Every person who gets behind the wheel, steps into a crosswalk, or travels along our roads deserves to arrive safely at their destination,” City Manager Sharon D. Subadan said. “That’s why we’re investing in the technology, people and partnerships that give our police officers the tools they need to keep our roadways safe.”
The city said the grant is part of a partnership with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety aimed at strengthening traffic safety enforcement and helping prevent crashes.
