SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Four months ago after Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes reported on a sinkhole in South Fulton that was in the front yard of a family’s home, the problem still hasn’t been fixed by the city.

On Wednesday, Fernandes finally got some answers from the city.

“I used to get promises – I don’t even get those anymore,” Homeowner Charles Minnifield told Channel 2 Action News.

Minnifield said he’s disappointed in the city of South Fulton.

Channel 2 Action News came out to his home on Old Bill Cook Road back in January to look at several sinkholes the city’s eroding pipes have caused. The city sent a contractor to the house, so the family thought some repairs would be made soon.

“He was going to give the city of South Fulton his recommendations. I never heard from anybody again,” Minnifield said.

TRENDING STORIES:

Channel 2 Action News reached out to the city to find out why repairs had not started. The director of public works said the city has acted.

“I think they were taking a robotic arm, and they were trying to look into the sinkholes,” Myra Minnifield said.

The city administrators said they ran a camera underground with that robotic arm and figured out what needs to be done.

However, officials said they have not done anything yet because they said they’re working on outsourcing the job

“It’s been four months! Okay so I mean we have to move forward,” Myra said.

This family believes that bickering between city officials may be what is causing the delay, although the city told Channel 2 Action News that has nothing to do with it.
