UNION CITY, Ga. — A former police officer has been found not guilty seven years after a deadly, fiery crash claimed three lives.
On Monday, Deonte Walker was acquitted of vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter and serious injury by vehicle.

Walker was pursuing a stolen car in Union City when he crashed into a van, and three people died.
Channel 2’s Richard Elliot was in the courtroom as dashcam video from November 2018 was played, showing an officer pulling Walker out of his crashed patrol car.

“He was absolutely going too fast and he also did not obey traffic signals meaning he ran red lights and by doing that he killed people. Was this accident preventable? It was absolutely preventable. It should never have occurred,” Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis told Channel 2 Action News in 2022. “We lost a three young men between the ages of 20 and 25 and injured two others. It’s a horrible accident. Its one of the worst videos I’ve ever had to watch.”
