SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — The City of South Fulton said a temporary traffic change is coming to a busy area as it works to make travel safety improvements.
Starting Monday, Fairburn Road will be closed to drivers as the city works to make travel more efficient for residents and businesses, and safer.
Starting at 8 a.m., Fairburn Road will be closed where it crosses North and South Utoy Creek.
The closure is expected to last over several weekends over the next few weeks while crews build new bridges at those crossings.

Both bridges are bein built at the same time and, due to proximity, will be done together to save time, the city said.
“Building the two structures at the same time will help minimize the overall duration of construction and reduce long-term impacts to the traveling public,” South Fulton officials said.
Homeowners and business workers that live or work in the area will still have access, but traffic detours will be in effect around the work zone.
Drivers are encouraged to follow the detour signs while the work is underway.
The bridge construction is supposed to be complete in spring 2027.
