SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The GBI has identified the body pulled from Allatoona Lake last week as missing 7-year-old Kammarie Wash.
The search for the girl in East Point turned into a homicide investigation shortly after she disappeared.
Her father and his girlfriend are in custody in connection with her death.
Michael Wash is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, giving false statements and concealing the death of another.
Wash's girlfriend Lesherae Davis is charged with party to the crime of aggravated assault, two counts of party to the crime of cruelty to children in the first degree, giving false statements and concealing the death of another.
Police say more charges could be added.
Michael Wash told police his oldest child, Kammaire Wash, disappeared between the night of June 29 and the morning of June 30. He said he and Davis, put her to bed, but when they woke up, the door to their apartment was open and she was gone.
Police didn’t think his story added up. In less than 24 hours, their missing person’s case became a homicide investigation.
