Smoke reported from passenger device on flight from Atlanta to Dallas

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — An American Airlines flight from Atlanta to Dallas-Fort Worth landed safely Friday after smoke was reported coming from a passenger’s device during landing, the airline said.

According to American Airlines, Flight 2398 was approaching Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport when crew members received reports of smoke coming from a passenger’s device.

The airline said the flight landed safely at the Dallas airport and taxied to the gate under its own power.

Per standard procedure, emergency personnel met the plane upon arrival at the gate.

American Airlines credited its crew for responding quickly to the situation.

“We thank our crew for their professionalism and swift response to quickly contain the device,” the airline said in a statement.

One passenger received medical attention at the scene and was later released, according to the airline.

Flight 2398 was a regularly scheduled American Airlines flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

The airline did not immediately provide additional details about the device or what caused it to emit smoke.
