Shooting victim's family to carry on message of non-violence

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The victim of a South Fulton County shooting was an artist from New Orleans, but family members say he was looking to relocate to Atlanta.

Akeem Howard, 31, was one of three victims shot at a house party on Picardy Circle North August 20.

"He was in the wrong place at the wrong time," said Howard's brother William Walker. "What happened to him was definitely not the way that he was supposed to go."

Walker told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes this death is hard to accept, because Howard had just created t-shirts that say "Stop the killing."

"It's really something that's close to us, because of the peace that we live by and he just was fed up with (the violence)," Walker said.

Howard's family will honor his legacy through his art, and try to find a positive outcome surrounding his senseless death.

Police are still investigating the shooting and searching for the gunman.
