DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb police are searching for the gunman who shot a young man outside at a DeKalb County gas station Thursday morning, forcing two schools to go on lockdown.
The shooting happened around 8 a.m., at the Chevron on North Hairston Road and Central Drive near Stone Mountain.
DeKalb police said no one else was in any danger, and the lockdowns were soon lifted at Stone Mountain High School and a nearby elementary school.
Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach spoke with witnesses and the victim's families as they learned the man will survive.

DeKalb police caught one man that was with the gunman running from the gas station after the young man was shot in the back between two gas pumps. The gunman, however, got away.
DeKalb police K-9s tried tracking the gunman to the apartments next door.
A witness, who didn't want to show her face, spoke to the victim's family, who came to the scene.
"The young man ran into this complex," the witness said.
The sister of the 21-year-old victim learned he should be OK, but she hasn't seen him yet herself.
"I still don't feel good because I don't know that," the sister said. "I ain't seen him physically, none of that."
"We do have a witness who was there when the shooting happened," said Lt. Lonzy Robertson, of the DeKalb County Police Department.
The victim's sister doesn't know who would want him dead, but says he's no stranger to violent gun crime.
"This ain't just one time," the sister said. "This is the second time."
For the second time, the man survived.
