Shaky Knees shake up: Stevie Nicks drops out, Foo Fighters added as headliner

ATLANTA — If you purchased tickets for the Shaky Knees, some major changes have been made to the lineup for this year’s music festival.

Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks announced Tuesday that she is canceling her five 2021 concert dates due to concerns over COVID-19 and the recent spread of the delta variant.

That includes her headlining appearance at the Atlanta music festival in October.

“These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made,” Nicks said in a statement. “I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising COVID cases should be of concern to all of us. While I’m vaccinated, at my age, I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the 5 performances I had planned for 2021. Because singing and performing have been my whole life, my primary goal is to keep healthy so I can continue singing for the next decade or longer. I’m devastated and I know the fans are disappointed, but we will look towards a brighter 2022.”

Nicks isn’t the only artist that dropped out of the lineup. Royal Blood will also no longer appear.

Shaky Knees originally slated Nicks for the Friday night headlining spot, but the festival wrangled up another big name to replace Nicks. The Foo Fighters.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of the legendary Foo Fighters in our Friday night headlining slot, and we’re not done there!  Please also welcome Garbage, The Collection and Glove to this year’s Shaky Knees lineup!”

Organizers canceled the festival last year twice because of the pandemic. The festival said it will return to Atlanta’s Central Park over the course of three days from Oct. 22-24.

While vaccinations are not currently mandated, Shaky Knees Music Festival strongly encourages them.

“You’ve social distanced, washed your hands and masked up. Vaccinations are one more critical step in providing protection against the COVID-19 virus and getting back to the people and activities we love,” the festival said.
