COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — More than two dozen students were on a Coweta County school bus when it collided with a car on the way to school.
The crash happened at Highway 29 and East Camp Street Friday morning.
According to Coweta County Schools, a bus carrying students from Moreland Elementary, Smoky Road Middle School and Newnan H.S hit a car just before 8 a.m. while transporting kids to school.
EMS and sheriff deputies arrived shortly after the crash.
One young girl was taken to the hospital with a bad cut on her ear, school officials said. The rest of the students were put on buses and sent to their respective schools just before 8:30, according to school officials.
"My understanding is we had one student transported. I heard stitches. I hesitate to say they were minor injuries because if it's your child, it is not minor. But I think it was stitches to that child," Coweta County Schools spokesman Dean Jackson said.
The driver of the car was taken to the hospital.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the bus driver turned out in front of the car and was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
