STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — A series of break-ins at a Stockbridge apartment complex has residents feeling uneasy.

St. Ives Crossing is a gated community that doesn’t normally deal with these types of crimes.

The victim of the most recent burglary is upset with management because she says they didn’t notify tenants of the criminal activity until after all her stuff was stolen.

Tiffany Rudd recalls the moment she realized intruders were in her place.

“This metal plate part was pulled back, and I could see the inside of the lock,” she showed Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes. “They took my laptop, which my life was on, my television, my aunt’s 50-inch TV, her two desktop computers and my camcorder.”

Rudd says Stockbridge police officers were the first ones to tell her that she was the third victim in a string of recent burglaries. She says complex management should have warned her that it was happening.

“We stay here. We have a right to know if somebody is breaking into somebody’s house,” she said.

Fernandes spoke with the corporate office in Ohio, which said they warned residents through email. Rudd admits she got that email, but says it was sent out after someone broke in and stole all her things.
