SCHOOL CHANGES: Weather causes several districts to close, start late

Several school districts have announced they would close early Thursday and others will open late Friday because of the damage from severe weather that moved through metro Atlanta. Many areas experienced serious flooding, trees down and power outages.

Pike County Schools, Upson County Schools, and Union County Schools. Union County Schools was on a 2-hour delay before Friday morning.

Here’s a list of schools that are closed or opening late on Friday:

Dade County Schools, Elbert County Schools, Fannin County, Franklin County, Lumpkin County, Whitfield County, Habersham County Schools, Chattooga County Schools, Madison County Schools and White County Schools are also operating on a two-hour delay on Friday. Towns County Schools will delay opening until 10 a.m.
