Metro Atlanta city considering changes to rules on alcohol sales

CONYERS, Ga. — A metro Atlanta city is considering changing its rules for how and when alcohol can be sold on weekends.

The Conyers City Council reviewed a proposed ordinance to change the hours alcohol can be sold and consumed at licensed locations on Saturday nights.

The review of the proposal happened on Aug. 5.

Should the ordinance be passed, residents and visitors to Conyers would be able to purchase and consume alcohol from 7 a.m. on Saturday to 2:55 a.m. the following Sunday.

An effective date for the ordinance to be active was not immediately available, but city records show the council will vote on the item for approval or rejection on Aug. 19.
