Man shot to death in Conyers neighborhood; suspect on the run

CONYERS, Ga. — Conyers police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead on Tuesday night. A murder suspect is now on the run.

Officers say they were called to a home on Forest Villa Drive, where they found a man who had been shot several times. The man died from his injuries on scene.

Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach received a photo of the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Amir Johnson, as Channel 2 Action News This Morning went on the air.

There were a number of witnesses inside the home who cooperated with investigators and identified Johnson.

Police say the suspect is still on the run. While they believe it to be isolated, it’s unclear what the motive behind the shooting was.

Officers will have extra patrols in the area as they continue searching for the suspect.
