ATLANTA — Gov. Brian Kemp has declared a state of emergency for parts of the Atlanta metro and counties south of Interstate 20 because of flooding.
"We’ve got some road issues and infrastructure issues that we’re seeing because of the level of rainfall that we’ve had and flooding that’s going on,” Kemp said at a news conference. “We’re working with GEMA to ensure that these communities have all the tools and resources that they need to deal with the fallout.”
Kemp’s office will announce when the State of Emergency will be lifted.
The heavy rain that has soaked all of north Georgia throughout the day Thursday will continue to diminish and clear out Friday.
