HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Henry County police are determined to find the man who gunned down one of their officers.

On Tuesday, authorities held a news conference where they announced they’ve doubled the reward money and released new photos of the suspect accused of killing Officer Paramhans Desai.

“No matter where he is, he’s going to get caught,” said Henry County Police Chief Mark Ammerman.

The 38-year-old father of two died Monday night. His patrol car now sits in front of Henry County police headquarters as a memorial.

Desai joined the department less than a year ago, but is a veteran of law enforcement, serving for the Georgia Department of Corrections, then DeKalb police before moving to Henry County in 2020.

Desai was killed on Nov. 4 when police said he responded to a domestic call near Key’s Ferry Road in McDonough. Authorities believe 22-year-old Jordan Jackson shot Desai.

A nationwide manhunt continues around the clock for the suspect Jackson, now wanted for killing a police officer.

Law enforcement agencies across the south Metro, along with former NBA star and Henry County resident Shaquille O’Neal, offered a $30,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the suspect. But police announced Tuesday they were doubling that reward.

“I’m hoping with another $30,000 on top, maybe that will help motivate some people to do what needs to be done,” Ammerman said.

Later in the day, Crime Stoppers added another $10,000 to the reward, making it $70,000.

Awona Love is Desai’s neighbor and said she is still in shock over his death.

“I can’t question God but I don’t understand this one. That was my friend,” Love said. “I’m just so distraught. I don’t know how we going to get through him not being here. That was my friend.”

Jackson is considered to be “armed and dangerous.” Authorities believe he left the scene in a white 2016 Honda Civic with the license plate RXF0384. Later, police said the suspect may possibly be traveling in a white 2021 Dodge Ram with Georgia tag CRX4743, but the Dodge was later recovered.

The Henry County police department said they have set up a fund for donations to Desai’s family.

Donations can be made through the “Ralph Easterwood Angel Wings for Warriors Benevolence Fund.” The Ralph Easterwood Angel Wings for Warriors Benevolence Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organized for the sole purpose of helping the families of sworn, non-sworn and civilian employees, most of all first responders.
