SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Residents in the city of Renaissance have had enough of the crime in the area and are making their voices heard at a town hall meeting.

The meeting comes after someone shot up a house Wednesday night, leaving a 12-year-old shot in the leg.

Mayor Bill Edwards called for the community meeting to address the issues. Residents in the area tell Channel 2's Carl Willis the meeting is long overdue.

We're told 10 shootings have taken place in this same neighborhood in six months. Prior to this specific incident, two children were shot at during a community cook out.

'I've heard three four gunshots in the past week," said South Fulton County resident Wafanya Donaldson.

Some would consider that a relief. Residents of Pointer Ridge and surrounding communities attended the town hall. They told Willis their complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

"Who do you tell? People telling me 'do this and do that.' I've been robbed several times on Hilledale," one resident said.

police and getting police to know the community.

"You've got the stats. You know where the high crime areas are. You've got to get out of the car and talk to people," another resident said.

Edwards said he'll work with lawmakers, community leaders and especially the police to make sure that law enforcement is keeping focus on the new city through their intergovernmental agreement.

"The agreement says you must run those departments on the same level as 2016 or better.
I want to work with Fulton County to make sure that we're doing at least that." he said.

The mayor also suggested stationing squad cars with license plate readers on Old National and setting up the police command center right at a local school to increase presence.
