FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — A local mother says human remains found in a Floyd County subdivision Friday afternoon belong to her missing daughter.

A hiker found the remains around 1 p.m. in a wooded area off Everwood Court.

Through tears, Cyndi Jones told Channel 2's Jessica Jaglois that the remains belong to her 24-year-old daughter, Ashley.

Ashley Jones, a mother of three daughters, was last seen Feb. 6 in the area where the remains were found Friday afternoon.

Police say Ashley Jones had an odd premonition shortly before she vanished last month.

According to police, Ashley told her family "something was going to happen to her" shortly before she disappeared in early February.

The remains were found on a 5-acre property in a spot investigators called “unusual.”

“I have no idea why anyone would be back in this area at all,” said neighbor Hugh Tyner.

Tyner says he spoke to police on scene Friday afternoon.

“He said, ‘Just thought you need to know that we found a dead body back here.’ I said, ‘Is there any reason to be alarmed?’ He said, ‘No,’” said Tyner.

Floyd County police had been looking for Ashley Jones since she was reported missing and had searched properties in the area.

“They were searching our woods, behind our house, all through our neighborhoods, looking for this girl who had just vanished in the middle of the night,” said neighbor Darci Jessie.

Cyndi Jones had posted on Facebook asking for information on her daughter's disappearance but Friday night she posted this:

"My beautiful daughter was found today. I am heartbroken to say that she is no longer with us. I cannot express to you the heartache and pain I feel."

The remains are currently being examined by the GBI.

According to a Facebook page dedicated to Ashley, a candlelight vigil will eventually be held.
