Rain, storms ahead this weekend

Forecast map for Sunday

ATLANTA — Saturday will start out dry but by noontime, Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said storms will start popping up across the metro.

“They’re going to be few and far between,” Burns said. “I wouldn’t cancel any afternoon plans tomorrow.”

Burns said as the afternoon goes on, more storms will form, especially in the western half of the state, but the latest models show the system will weaken and become less in coverage as the afternoon moves in the evening hours.

“If you’re heading out Saturday night, it’s looking pretty good,” Burns said.

But there is another line of storms expected to form in Alabama that could affect our weather on Sunday.

Storms will form throughout the morning on Sunday and move northeast across the north Georgia mountains throughout the midafternoon.

The storms will lose some steam by early evening, but scattered showers could still be possible across the Atlanta metro, lingering into Sunday evening.

Burns said there could be the possibility of storms into Monday as well.
