Oldest comedy club in Atlanta to move

ATLANTA — The oldest comedy club in Atlanta announced that it will be moving to a new location.

Officials from the legendary Punchline Comedy Club said the club is regularly cited as one of the top 10 comedy clubs in the U.S. Some known performers include Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Jerry Seinfeld and more. The club had its first comedy show in 1982 and will be celebrating its 33rd anniversary this February.

In preparation for the big move, club officials said they plan to have pop-up shows throughout the summer at different locations.

“It’s the right time for this move. A variety of things lined up with redevelopment coming in Sandy Springs and some exciting things happening around Metro Atlanta,” Jamie Bendall, co-owner of The Punchline Club said in a statement. “It's hard not to love your original showroom and all of the memories from over the years; nevertheless, we’re excited for the opportunity a new location offers that will incorporate the best aspects of the current club with some new features.”

The club plans to move in April 2015.
