ATLANTA — Atlanta's spring pollen season is kicking into full gear, with Monday's pollen count climbing to 2,093.
The pollen count, measured by the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinic, went from 5 Friday, passed the 1,000-mark Sunday and reached its season high Monday. The all-time record high was 9,367 on March 20, 2012.
The major contributors to Monday's high count were oak, birch, sweetgum, pine, sycamore and willow pollens.
Temperatures are also warming up this week, climbing into the upper 70s Monday. Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Karen Minton expects temperatures in the 80s in the next few days and rain by the end of the week.
