DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Chamblee police are searching for a group of people they say robbed 13 people in a span of eight weeks.
The armed robberies are happening along Buford Highway, six near Shallowford Road and seven near Plaster Road, according to authorities.
In three of the incidents, police said the robbers pistol-whipped their victims and in another two, the robber fired one shot. The victims were walking to or from their residence at the time of the armed robberies, according to a Facebook post on the Chamblee Police Department's official page.
"I had no idea that was happening," said resident Mario Valdez.
People who live in the area tell Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes they're worried.

In at least three of the cases, police said the robbers beat their victims over the head with a gun and committed all 13 of the robberies the same way.
"It has to be people living in the neighborhood, it has to be someone who knows the area and it has to be someone who knows they’re gonna get away with it," Valdez said.
Police said they patrol this area on a regular basis but since the number of robberies is increasing so quickly, they’ve stepped up patrols.
Valdez said many people here don’t have cars so they’re always walking on Buford Highway.
"I usually see a lot of people walking to get their groceries and stuff," he said.
He said he’ll be more alert now, at least until police catch this group of gunmen.
"We just need to be more careful about things," he said.
