Norcross SWAT standoff ends with suspect in custody

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities said a man is in custody after an hours-long SWAT standoff at a Norcross apartment complex Monday morning.

The incident began after 8 a.m. at Bella Apartment complex at 2445 Beaver Ruin Road.

Norcross police told Channel 2′s Tony Thomas that the incident began as a domestic situation and that a man was armed with a gun.

Neighbors said the armed man was coming in and out of his unit and police keep telling him to stay back.

“I’m really worried because it’s right there next to me,” Luciana Hidalgo.

Just after 11:45 a.m., police took the man into custody. No one was hurt.

The Channel 2 Action News newsroom received several calls from viewers saying there was a heavy police presence in the area.
