Police seeking motive in triple shooting

ATLANTA — Police say a Friday night shooting has left one person dead and two people injured after a gun went off outside a southwest Atlanta home.

A witness said one of the people is recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital is the shooter, who opened fire at the Erin Avenue home at about 11:30 p.m. Police said a 24-year-old, with the first name Kenny, was the person who died.  The same witness told Channel 2's Sophia Choi the other victim, also in his early 20s, was nicknamed Squirrel.

Police have not yet identified a motive in the shooting.

"Based on what we've learned so far, it was just a group of friends that had gathered in the carport when this incident occurred," Atlanta police Lt. Paul Guerrucci said.

Police said they don't know how the alleged gunman was shot. A friend of Squirrel, the other man injured, said he had four gunshot wounds and doctors had to remove part of his colon. But Choi is working to confirm the condition of those injured in the shooting.
